March Winemaker Dinner – Tarras Vineyards

For those of you who missed February’s Monthly Winemaker Dinner which was hosted by Claudio Heye of Surveyor Thomson Wines – an absolutely fantastic night was had by all and those in attendance got to experience exceptional food matched with very special pinot noir! We are now looking forward to our next Monthly Winemaker Dinner which will be hosted by Tarras Vineyards Owner & Winemaker Hayden Johnston:

“Tarras Vineyards is located near the Central Otago town of Tarras. The home vineyard is called The Canyon, found high up on the terraces of the old goldfields at Bendigo in Central Otago. Established by Hayden Johnston in 2002, this organically managed vineyard consistently delivers outstanding expressions of great Pinot Noir with floral aromas, intense fruit, spicy and savoury notes, good natural acidity and impressive tannin profiles. They are distinctive, icon wines that age. Since the first harvest in 2006, Tarras Vineyards has also made a name for delivering outstanding expressions of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. The style is not typical, not mainstream, with more complexity and a European subtlety wrapped up with an unmistakable Marlborough signature.”

The Tarras ‘Florian’ Pinot Noir Rosé has been listed at Eichardt’s Bar & Restaurant for the last 2 summers – this exclusive wine sold out completely in 2014 and will sell out again in 2015!

This very special evening will feature a five-course degustation menu designed and prepared by Eichardt’s & No.5 Church Lane Bar & Restaurant Executive Chef, Will Eaglesfield. Each of the five courses has been expertly matched with one of Tarras Vineyard’s fabulous wines.

Seats are priced at $100 per person which includes all food (five courses) and wines for the evening (six in total). Seats are strictly limited and will again sell out.
