Winemaker Dinner – Felton Road

Our October Winemaker Dinner hosted by Domenic Mondillo of Mondillo Vineyards was another sold out event (with all seats selling out in just two days) and what a fantastic night had by all! Domenic & our Executive Chef, Will Eaglesfield created a truly memorable evening of very special wine matched with exception food!

We are very excited to now be taking reservations for our November Winemaker Dinner which will be hosted by Felton Road Winemaker Blair Walter:

Friday 28th November 2014, 7:00pm, Eichardt’s Parlour

Established in 1991, Felton Road has quickly gained a reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading premium wine producers. It’s wines are exported to over 35 countries around the world and sell out quickly upon release. The four estate vineyards are all located in Central Otago’s Bannockburn sub-region and are farmed organically and biodynamically (Demeter certified). The winemaking maintains an emphasis on natural winemaking in a gravity flow winery: practices such as whole cluster, wild yeasts, and an absence of fining and filtration are hallmarks of Felton Road’s wines. From their first vintage in 1997, Felton Road’s wines have attracted international enthusiasm for their ability to show clarity of place over a winemaker fingerprint. Winemaker Blair Walter attributes the high quality and individuality to the distinct Bannockburn soils and climate, the north-facing hillside vineyard sites, and meticulous care of the vines with an emphasis on an understanding of each unique location.

Join Blair for this special dinner where he will share his thoughts on crafting these unique wines supported by a range of Felton Road’s Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs. Blair’s extensive experience in Central Otago and elsewhere, incorporated with his enthusiasm for great wines of the world, will make for a most interesting and enjoyable evening.

This very special evening will feature a five-course degustation menu designed and prepared by Eichardt’s Executive Chef, Will Eaglesfield. Each of the five courses has been expertly matched with one of Felton Road’s fabulous wines.
